
Father Martin Miller | 1987
Father Martin John Miller was born in Oregon, Illinois on February 15, 1965. He studied political science at Illinois State University where he became involved in Opus Dei. After graduating in 1987, Father Miller went on to study at Marquette University and received a graduate degree in political science in 1989. Father Miller studied theology in Rome and Spain from 1994-1999. He completed his doctoral thesis in fundamental theology at the University of Navarre in 1999, on "The Concept of Dogma in Vatican II." His thesis was published in part by the University of Navarre Press in 2000. Father Miller is still very involved with Opus Dei and says that he looks forward to serving the other members, and the whole Church, though now in a different way, through his new vocation as a priest.
Father Steven Beatty | 2001
Father Steven Beatty was born in St. Louis and grew up in Anna, Illinois. A member of Anna-Jonesboro High School class of 1997, he studied at Illinois State University where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2001 After a semester abroad at the University of Limerick, Ireland, Father Beatty was an intern with the campus missionary group FOCUS. In 2002, he entered Mundelein Seminary, from which he graduated in 2007 with a Master of Divinity and the ecclesial of Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology. Father Beatty was ordained for the Diocese of Belleville on May 26, 2007 by Bishop Edward K. Braxton, and begins priestly ministry as the Parochial Vicar of our Cathedral Parish.
Father Matthew Camaioni | 1996
Reverend Matthew Camaioni was born on October 22, 1971. He grew up in Geneva attending St. Peter Parish and was first attracted to the priesthood as an altar server. Fr. Camaioni developed an interest in biology in high school and received a Bachelor's in biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago. While attending UIC, he became active in the Newman Center and also took up Catholic apologetics as a means of understanding and maintaining his Catholic faith. After working for a year Fr. Camaioni returned to science receiving a Masters in Biology from Illinois State University. His involvement in the ISU Newman Center helped him to continue to grow in faith and relationship with God, and provided him with the atmosphere to open up to a vocation to the priesthood. Fr. Camaioni graduated from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland with a Master of Divinity, and was ordained a priest on May 19th, 2007.
