Why I love Bellarmine

What I've always loved about Bellarmine (formerly known as Newman by all us old folk), is the perfect balance between the spiritual and the social. Daily Mass is complimented by Friday Movie Nights. Adoration is balanced with Shirk Nights. Sunday Mass and Sunday Supper. Ping pong tournaments and rosary. Dances and FOCUS Primetimes.

This balance between the spiritual and the social gave me the opportunity to do two of my favorite things - spend more time with God and spend more time with my Peeps!

Why is this emphasis on the social so important? It's because all these social events build us Bellarminians into what we are - a community. We are a community that supports each other in our development as Catholics. We are a community that supports each other in our development as adults, as parents, as stuents, as teachers, as friends, as religious, as laypeople, as leaders, as followers.

What could be better than being surrounded by other people who love Christ and want to shine His light in everything they do? Nothing... except dancing to Journey with those same people at the St. Nick's Dance while wearing a sparkly dress. Now that's what God had in mind when he created the world. It's downright heavenly.
