Liturgical Ministry

If you are interested in serving in one of the following ways as a liturgical minister,
please contact our sacristan Carolyn cagorsk@ilstu.edu for more information on scheduling and training.

Ushers / Greeters

The ushers welcome people in the beginning of Mass, help with the collection during offertory, and hand our bulletins at the end of Mass. Ushers are usually present on Sundays and at special Masses.  More information regarding usher and greeter schedules will be available soon; look for sign up sheets at the beginning of the school year.

Lectors

The lectors participate in both daily and Sunday Masses by proclaiming the Word of God in their reading of the First and Second Readings. There will be more information provided at the beginning of the year regarding lector schedules and training; stay tuned for more details about signing up to lector during the week as well as on Sundays.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs)

The EMHCs distribute the Body of Christ and the Precious Blood of Christ during Holy Communion. EMCHs serve the congregation during daily and on Sunday Mass. Training will be available at the beginning of the school year. Stay tuned for more information regarding training and schedules, as well as sign up sheets that will be posted shortly after classes begin.

Altar Servers

The Altar Servers serve at the altar during Mass by assisting in the priest with some of his duties. Alter servers are present during Sunday and weekday masses; schedules will rotate servers on a weekly basis. Stay tuned for updated alter server schedules, sign up sheets, and training information that will be made available early in the school year.
